Medical Molds

Inhouse-made medical molds are what helped us grow medical parts molding & assembly for years.  Being able to use our 100% owned mold manufacturer to build our molds makes us independent. At any given time we have full control over the molds, extensive quality control, and materials.

The enormous success and increasing performance are accredited to the amazing team in Thailand, led by Milind Patil, who has a long history in the medical field.
Optimization, rigorous quality testing, and a professional approach to solving problems have always been our key ingredients.

Large medical companies such as Danaher Corporation, Cepheid Inc, Foamtec Medical, Freudenberg Medical, and many others love our medical molds. Give us a visit or schedule a call to learn about the interesting projects we are doing.

Our types of medical molds

Aluminum

Ideal for prototyping and short runs, our aluminum molds offer a cost-effective solution for up to 500–2,000 shots.

Soft Steel

Our Class 104 soft steel molds are designed for low- to mid-volume production, typically lasting around 100,000 shots.

Mass Production

Built for high-volume manufacturing, our Class 101 steel molds support up to 1 million shots, ensuring reliability.

Tooling FAQs

How long does the mold last?

We manufacture our molds based on the SPI standard:

Class 101 -> +1,000,000 shot cycles
Class 102 -> up to 1,000,000 shot cycles
Class 103 -> up to 500,000 shot cycles
Class 104 -> up to 100,000 shot cycles
Class 105 -> up to 500 shot cycles

When molds run in our own facilities, we handle all required maintenance to ensure long-term performance. If you choose to run the mold at your own facility, we’ll provide a detailed maintenance and warranty manual. Following these guidelines is essential to keep the warranty valid and the mold in top condition.

Timeline

This depends on the complexity of the mold. Generally we start with the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) which takes 4-7 days. For the mold design we schedule 10-15 days. After you approve the design, the mold can be done in 6-12 weeks.

What mold specs do I need?

The choice between a hot runner and cold runner system depends mainly on production volume and material cost. For high-volume runs and expensive materials, we typically recommend hot runner systems to minimize waste and increase efficiency. However, in some cases a cold runner system may be more suitable. We evaluate each project to choose the most cost-effective and reliable solution.

Choosing the right steel for your mold depends on key factors such as the type of plastic material (especially if it’s abrasive), the required mold life (based on mold class), and whether the mold will be used in a cleanroom environment. We carefully assess these elements to ensure optimal performance, durability, and compliance with your production needs.

Molds manufacturing and ownership

We have several toolshops that belong to our company group.
VEM Europe is located in Plovdiv, Bulgaria
VEM India is located in Pune, India
VEM China is located in Shenzhen, China

The mold design and the mold itself 100% belong to our customers. We provide you with the updated mold design as soon as the mold project finishs. This makes it much easier for you in situations such as mold transfers or when you need to make duplicate molds.
